I have used this device for a short time after I have bought it from Barnes & Nobles two years ago. I have not been able to use this device soon after due to my visual limitations.
I love to read and my vision has worsen in December of 2009 and it has not been the same since. For many years I have read many books in both hard-cover and paperbacks. I have read classics and many science-fiction and fantasy novels while my vision has remained stable for many years.
So I bought the Nook-Color in hopes to be able to read again without having to depend on the Library of Congress’ talking books cassettes or cartridges to listen to. For a short time; I was barely able to see the navigational menus that are geared towards the people who have normal vision. So I have purchased a few e-books that interested me to get me started. I have set it up in order for me to read in extra-large font and "night" setting.
As was well until my vision has become unstable and I had to deal with such instability before I would have lost the vision altogether. So it has gotten to the point when I was having more difficulties using the Nook’s menus that has very small fonts and very low contrasts.
So I have grown frustrated with it and I have put the device away for a very long time ever since. I have given up using it since I was unable to use it without getting frustrated and angry.
So recently a week ago, I decided to try to use it again, and I needed to get a replacement USB cable to charge the device’s battery with. When it was charged, I tried using it again and it is no wonder why I was so frustrated with this device.
Funny thing is; last December of 2012, I got a Samsung Galaxy Note II, which is the smaller device and I can see this device much better than the Nook-Color.
So for demonstration’s sake; I have made a video of myself using and comparing the two devices before I upload it to YouTube. I know it’s not a perfect video, but I did the best I could with it.
The Nook-Color is a good e-book reader device. Don’t get me wrong. It’s just wrong for me. We don’t get along. I cannot see the tiny navigational menus that came with it.
So I am planning on giving it away to someone who can use it. I am hoping to get a large tablet with a better navigational menus and interface.
Anyway; I believe that is pretty much what I wanted to say in this entry.
Shalom, y’all!
