This is often said by my mother whenever I play a certain song repeatedly and loudly on the record-player that my cousin has given me for my birthday in 1979.
"TRACY, TURN OFF THAT &#$@ MUSIC!"
That was the beginning of the days of loud music playing over the years.
It is funny that our two 60 feet-long mobile homes were built side-by-side. The bedroom where I slep in and use often is at one end of the trailer (west-end, 2nd trailer), and my mother is either in the living room or kitchen at the other end (west-end) of the mobile home which is the first trailer.
Now you wonder how in the world can my mother hear the music playing in such distance. Maybe it has something to do with the reverberation of the sounds within the walls of both trailers. It’s funny how sound travels through walls.
The music that I have often played was the popular disco group called Chic as they sing "Le Freak". Using the 45 RPM record that I have been wearing out over time. That was long before the days of CDs and mp3s. I have other vinyl records as well but I did not play them as often as I did with "Le Freak". It was one of those songs that I have grown to love over the years because that was the style of music that I grew up with till many years later that my taste in music have developed and changed.
So that was the beginning of my interest in music has become my escape from the reality. That was one of the many avenues of escapes from the reality that I have been living in for many years.
No, I will not turn off my music just to please everyone. I will not silence them. I will continue to play and listen to them as an escape, inspiration, and to discuss about.
I believe this is about it for this blog entry till the next entry. Take care and enjoy your wonderful music and don’t be afraid to play them loud as long as it does not damage your hearing!
