Fond Memories of the TV Show "Emergency!"

I remember a show that I used to watch for a long time as a kid. This time it’s not a science fiction TV show. Surprised? I bet!

Well, I remembered whenever I watched this TV show I recall how those two men have been called to various emergencies when they get the call by a dispatcher.

So for this 51st blog entry, I would like to devote this to the TV show that I used to watch on TV. I don’t remember if I missed an episode or a few, but I do remember watching this show on television.

It is a show based on the real-life emergency scenarios whether it is rescuing a cat from a tree to rushing to the “Five-Alarm” fire in progress. Each episode has the lesson in safety which I really like and they kept my attention and very educational.

Guessed it yet? Well, it’s about two gentlemen, Roy DeSoto and John Gates, who were often alerted to the various emergencies being their unit numeral, “Squad 51”.

Yes, I’m dropping a lot of clues here and you could have guessed it by now that it is called “Emergency!”. The blog entry title should have been an obvious answer as I write about them.

So now I have the DVDs of this show so that I can watch them again. I have not gotten around to doing so yet, but I will soon enough.

So I was growing up learning the terms like paramedic, CPR, IV, oxygen, etc… Even one of my uncles was a paramedic for years before he has retired. I will re-post that blog later when the time comes.

Anyway; this show “Emergency!” has been one of my favorite TV shows that is not science fiction. They also had an aminated show based on the similar format geared for children so they can learn the lesson in safety, which is pretty neat.

It’s funny that I’ve always wanted to get a fire-engine and now I have it many years later as a collective for nostalgia. Something to remember the show with.

I think this is about it for now. I decided to write about a show that a numeral 51 in it and it’s called “Emergency!”. This 51st blog marks the next goal in writing the blogs. So we will meet again next time.
